NEW YORK, New York - The Trump organisation on Friday announced it was dumping New Jersey Governor Chris Christie as Chair of the Trump transition team.
He will be replaced by Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
Mr. Trump's children, sons Eric and Donald Jr., his daughter Ivanka and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, have all beennamed as members.
The mission of our team will be clear," President-elect Trump said in a statement released on Friday. "It is to put together the most highly qualified group of successful leaders who will be able to implement our change agenda in Washington. Together, we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding this nation specifically jobs, security and opportunity."
Christie will still have a place on the newly-namedPresidential Transition Team as Vice Chair, however he will not be alone. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, and Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson have also been named as Vice Chairs.
The Executive Director of the team will be Rick Dearborn, the chief of staff to Sessions.
President-elect Trump will bring about fundamental change in Washington, and these are the right people to make that happen, Mike Pence said in a statement issued on Friday.
Earlier Mr Trump tweeted: "Busy day planned in New York. Will soon be making some very important decisions on the people who will be running our government!"
Rudy Guiliani, on Friday told a television interviewer he was putting his hand up for the job of attorney-general, a super role which would see him as head of the U.S. Justice Department, and boss of the FBI and the CIA. Mr Gingrich is believed to have his sights set on becoming Secretary of State.
